MBTA Student Discount Passes

Requirements

  • Student at Pierce School
  • Age 12 or older

How to Request a Student Pass

To request a reduced fare Student CharlieCard, visit the Main Office and ask to sign up for a reduced fare student T pass. The card should be available for pickup after a few days.

Using the Student CharlieCard

Students receive an S-Card, which can be loaded and used like a regular CharlieCard with reduced fare discounts.

  • Use the card year-round for discounted fares and passes.
  • Load the card with a monthly or 7-day pass for unlimited travel on buses and subway.
  • Show the card to receive reduced fares on eligible Commuter Rail and ferry trips.

  • Fare vending machines
  • Onboard fare boxes on buses and trolleys at street-level stops
  • MBTA retail sales locations
  • The CharlieCard Store at Downtown Crossing

Public Transit Safety Tips

  • Ride with an adult the first few times using the T.
  • Wait until the vehicle fully stops before getting on.
  • Stay near the driver or operator when there are not many people nearby.
  • Keep personal belongings close to your body.
  • Report suspicious activity to the operator or MBTA staff immediately.
